ABOUT ME
My career to date has taken me on a winding path across lots of creative disciplines. After graduating with a degree in advertising art direction in 2009, I spent the first part of my career working primarily in graphic design and illustration within the fashion industry, with a focus on branding and apparel graphics. Over a span of eleven or so years I was lucky enough to work on projects for such varied brands as Adidas, Altura, Burberry, Canon, Clarks, Diesel, Gap, Hugo Boss, Jack Wolfskin, Joules, Lee Jeans, Lululemon, M&S, Nike, Porsche, Puma, Snapchat, Superdry, Uniqlo & Wrangler, as well as a plethora of start-ups and independents.
In 2021, I started working for one of the fastest-growing apparel brands in the UK, and became Art Director in late 2022. Initially, I’d conceive and coordinate shoots with filmmakers and photographers, and be on set to help maintain a positive and productive environment and make sure all creative requirements of the brief were met. Spending so much time on shoots rekindled my love of photography, which had been a big part of my design school education and university degree. And so began the journey that led me to segue away from pure design and illustration into more photography-focused work, and, in late 2025 as I write this, to become a full-time freelance photographer and art director.
I’ve never been comfortable with the idea of sticking to a niche and I’ve always been drawn to variety and trying new ways of creative expression. To me, there’s little difference between graphic design, illustration, and photography. They’re often taught together (I once had a part-time gig lecturing on a graphic design and photography college course) and ultimately they’re about composition, color, mood, and conveying an idea or message, it’s only the techniques that differ. I think having a background in other visual media has definitely influenced my photography style.
Outside of all the visual stuff my other love is music, I sing and play guitar in a punk band. To be honest I started it so I’d have an excuse to make gig posters and band tees, but it turns out we’re pretty good.
